Jan Burian: launch of the new album V Horečka

12/02/25, 19:30 / Club Leitnerova

The musical novelty is written like this: "Of course, it doesn't matter what coat Jan Burian puts on his songs. Their expression and the listener's perception will certainly influence whether they choose big beats, electronics or, as in the case of the V horečce record, the form of austere piano ballads, blues or couplets. In the end, however, the most important text and melody remain. And songs and lyrics, or more precisely, poems set to music from the Zničehonic collection, were successful for Burian. They are more and more like that... I'm almost afraid to write it so that it doesn't sound like irony, but in short, wiser. More reconciled. Concise in a nutshell. "I'm almost old / with an almost young heart / and that makes me almost happy," the author characterized himself right away in the opening song Skoro. Which many people can identify with, even if they are almost... a little younger. Of course, the mentioned wisdom does not include any posturing and schoolboy lecturing. But on the other hand, a lot of honesty, awareness of one's own vulnerability and empathy. Hear, for example, the atheistic sigh of the Tourist.” 11/2024, UNI, Tomáš S. Polivka.

Luboš Pospíšil began his musical journey in 1969 in the ranks of the popular C&K Vocal and soon became its most popular member. He fundamentally participated, e.g. on the breakthrough CD Generation, especially in the second half of the seventh decade, he increasingly made his mark with songs that deviated from the parent group and, in parallel, toured domestic halls alone with a guitar. For reasons of the time, Pospíšil had to wait until 1983 for his first solo record, but it matured like the best wine. LP This wind I liked became a bomb in its time. Pospíšil's characteristic register combined with the poetic texts of the poet Pavel Šrut brought a completely unique style, the singer suddenly stood alongside performers such as Vladimír Mišík. With the new band 5P, whose members included Bohumil Zatloukal (ex-Jasná páka), David Koller and Michal Pavlík (today Čechomor), he sold out halls all over the country in 1982-88. Two more consecutive albums continued the tradition of a successful debut, at the end of the eighties Pospíšil and Koller supported R. Hladík in the temporarily revived Blue Effect.

Progres 2

27/02/25, 20:00 / Sono Centrum

PROGRES 2 – legendary rock group from Brno. It was founded in 1968 under the original name The Progress Organization by musicians Zdeněk Kluka and Pavel Váně. Their very first LP - The Progress Organization - Barnodaj - became the record of 1972 according to Melodie magazine critics. They already released their second LP - Mowglí - under the group's "normalized" name - Barnodaj. In the times of the most rigid normalization, they stopped working for several years. They revived it under the new name PROGRES 2 in 1978, when for the first time they presented the experimental audiovisual project Dialogue with the Universe (the first Czechoslovak rock opera). They continued in similar demanding projects on other albums (Třetí kniha junglí, Mozek, Zmena).
