Airbourne

24/03/25, 18:30 / Sono Centrum

Australian hard rockers Airbourne are coming to Brno! Known for their uncompromising energy and wild live shows, this four piece band will get your blood pumping with their fifth studio album 'Boneshaker'. The record is a celebration of raw, authentic rock 'n' roll, inspired by the classics of the late 70s - a time when technology wasn't the driving force behind the show, when it was all about energy and authentic spirit and performance; when tape recorders still gave recordings extra warmth and weight, and when perfection was not sought, but compositions that work on an emotional, primal, visceral level, exposing the raw and harsh beauty of the rock'n'roll lifestyle. Turn it up! Leave a mark!

Slanted blanket + guest

25/03/25, 19:00 / Jazz bar U kouřícího králíka

We're all about playing bluegrass, especially in G, fast and loud. We do it because we enjoy it - and there are those who claim that it shows in us. The repertoire consists of melodies taken from American bluegrass and newgrass bands, but we also like to play classic country hits or songs from the repertoire of Czech rock and blues musicians. Since our English is not the most refined, and we are closer to a Moravian cellar than to a prairie with blue grass, we use Czech texts by our "court" lyricists Richard Málk, Richard Lukes, Petra Švecová and others for the English songs.

Così fan tutte

26/03/25, 19:00 / Mahen Theatre

Do not test relationships, you risk that your girlfriend devotes her feelings to someone else or Mozart full of eroticism on the stage of the Mahen Theater. The complex relationships between men and women await you through the eyes of the young director Anna Petrželková. That's how they all are, or The School of Lovers, that's the title of the third opera, which was created from the artistic partnership of librettist Lorenzo da Ponte and composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a story about a seemingly harmless bet on female fidelity. But nothing is ever black and white in human relationships, and this is especially true in this opera. Mozart actually followed up on the previous works Don Giovanni and The Marriage of Figaro, which are difficult to put into a precise box - they always give us a mischievous smile in the middle of the drama, and on the contrary, tears and anger are rarely hidden behind the laughter.

Prvni hore (christening of the album) + Let her try

27/03/25, 20:00 / Kabinet múz (The Cabinet of Muses)

The leading Czech alternative band První hoře, which is considered to be among the pioneers of progressive or avant-garde rock, releases its seventh regular album "Achtung, Sultan!" on the Indies Scope label, and at the same time celebrates 25 years on the scene! The album is a single journey from typical heavily alternative compositions to straightforward metal burners, punk rockers to lyrical, brooding songs that cannot be missing from any of the band's records. It also remains a typical and unmistakable sound, which combines the sound of an accordion with sharp guitars, frenetic drums with a piano and peppery electronics.

Radůza

31/03/25, 19:00 / Mahen Theatre

Her artistic career resembles some "fairytale" biographies. Zuzana Navarová discovered her on the street in 1993, and for three days she sang in the sanctuary of Czech singers, in Prague's Lucern. A few weeks later, she triumphed here as the "opener" of the famous American singer-songwriter Susanne Vega, and six years later she had the same honor at a Mike Oldfield concert. Since then, she has released a number of very successful solo albums that break sales records without any advertising, won several Golden Angels and also scored in the Golden Nightingale poll. Thanks to its uniqueness and original songs, drawing primarily from the Czech tradition, it also attracted audiences abroad, for example in Poland and France. Radůza can accompany herself on several musical instruments, her singing thunders, but she also gently tells touching stories.

How is an opera made? Workshop

01/04/25, 9:00 / Janáčkovo divadlo (Janáček Theatre)

Workshop for 1st - 5th grade of elementary school What, but mainly who, is needed to create an opera performance? And how would it turn out if the children became scenographers, costume designers, or even an orchestra for a while? We will find that out together at the How to make opera workshop!

Serenity's choreography will bring the calm power of minimalism to the stage, inviting the audience to quieten down and perceive more deeply. The theme of the choreography builds on the contrast of movement and immobility. The dancers will move at the interface of dynamic movement until the moment of absolute stoppage. These moments of stillness are evoked by living sculptures that create a space for a meditative experience and a pause in a fast-paced world. With this piece, the choreographer Barbora Rašková tries to offer the audience a unique opportunity to slow down and be carried away by the depth of the moment.

Manon Lescaut

02/04/25, 19:00 / Janáčkovo divadlo (Janáček Theatre)

“Manon is a heroine I believe in and therefore cannot fail to win the hearts of the audience. Why couldn't there be two operas about Manon? A woman like Manon can have more than one lover. Massenet feels her like a Frenchman, with powder and minuets. I will feel it like an Italian, with a desperate passion," declared Puccini determinedly, when his publisher tried to talk him out of composing an opera on a theme that had already been set to music. And he did well, because Manon Lescaut has been one of his great successes since its premiere in Turin in 1893. He kept what he promised and offered his audience passion, despair and hope that overcomes even the tragic end of the main character. After all, love never dies.
