Soprano Sondra Radvanovsky celebrated spectacular successes on the stage of the Metropolitan Opera in many demanding roles in the opera repertoire. Now she takes on the form of the mythical sorceress Medea, who will stop at nothing in her desire for revenge. In the Metropolitan premiere of Cherubini's sporadically staged gem, tenor Matthew Polenzani will appear as Medea's husband, the Argonaut Íasón, whose love competes with Medea's beautiful Glauké played by soprano Janai Brugger. Her father and King Creon of Corinth will be played by bassist Michele Pertusi, and Medea's confidant Neris will be sung by mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Gubanova.
